NEW APPOINTMENTS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ZANZIBAR
The Council of the State University of Zanzibar at its 29th meeting held on 29th October, 2009 made the appointment of a Dean of the School of Education, Arts and Sciences (SEAS) and the Institutes’ Directors as follows:
1. Dr. Zakia M. Abubakar becomes the new Dean of SEAS.
2. Mr. Mmanga M. Mjawiri holds the post of the Director of the Institute of Kiswahili and Foreign Languages (IKFL).
3. Mr. Bakari A. Silima has been re-appointed the Director of the Institute of Continuing Education (ICE).
4. Mr. Hafidh S. Nassor becomes the Acting Director of Library Services.
The appointment of the above has been made following the termination of tenure for the posts held by the outgoing executives and as per the requirements of Sections 24.1and 24.2 of the Act that establishes the State University of Zanzibar.
The State University of Zanzibar also made the appointment of the new Heads of Panels. Those who have been appointed are as follows:
1. Arts – Mr. Abdallah Rashid Mkumbukwa.
2. Education – Mr. Abdullah Hemed Mohammed.
3. Computer Science – Mr. Ali Idarous Adnan.
4. Foreign Languages – Mr. Suweid Ali Suweid.
5. Science – Dr. Haji Mwevura Haji
6. Kiswahili – Mr. Amour Abdalla Khamis
who has been re-appointed to hold the post.
The term of service in their new offices for all the appointees is a triennium effective 1st November, 2009 and comes to an end on 30th June, 2012 except for Mr. Hafidh S. Nassor who will head the Directorate until the SUZA Council appoints a substantive director or decide otherwise.
